The Neptune Systems Sky LED Light Unit is the next step in LED lighting for reef aquariums. The Sky is a 200W LED light which utilises a patented diffuser technology that smoothly blends all of the 104 LEDs which creates an amazing unmatched spread and blend of light which means no hotspots, no disco ball effect, no need to supplement it with other lights or even add any additional diffuser. Thanks to the sky’s amazing blend and spread, the unit avoids harsh shadowing and fractured spectrums which occurs in most other LED lighting systems.

Many reefers will prefer the natural look that the sun and sky provide to natural reefs, but a lot of reefers also appreciate a more blue-purple light in various degrees, However the desired aesthetic is not universal. The Sky delivers both, It can be easily tuned to the unique look that any individual desires without sacrificing the quality of the life-giving light the corals and other animals demand and rely on.

The Sky not only fits into the Apex Ecosystem being able to be controlled through an Apex system, but it’s also capable of being a standalone unit for those who do not have or want an Apex system. It can be wirelessly controlled on your smartphone to enable the full control even without the Apex.

The Sky creates a huge blanket of light thanks to its wide profile making the most of the single unit. Thanks to this wide design its capable o covering 24 x 30 inches (60.96 x 76.2 cm) for full SPS coverage or 30 x 36 inches (76.2 x 91.44 cm) for less light demanding corals. This is a huge reach coming from a single light unit allowing for less lights and less plugs being used for your aquariums.

We all love a but of shimmer in our reef tanks, it helps provide that natural look in the ocean we see from the sun. However some LEDs, due to their direct light, can provide way too much and almost make it too much. The Sky addresses this with its four “Shimz” lenses which are inserted into the diffusion panel. However if that shimmer is still too much for your taste, simple purchase and replace them with the diffused “Shimz” which will further reduce the shimmer.

The Sky is clearly a powerhouse when it comes to coral growth and coverage. With this ability comes higher temperatures. However, the Sky has an excellent answer to this thanks to its advanced thermal management system. This systems not only keeps the unit cool, the lower operating temperature that is achieved extends the lifetime output of the LEDs and the lifetime of the actual fixture itself. Despite its excellent cooling performance, you don’t need to worry about the sound of the unit. The sky’s cooling system is nearly silent, using more surface area and 2 larger fans than usually allows for slower running which allows for a much quieter operation.

Another huge benefit to the sky is it’s plethora of mounting options. The universal four-point mounting system matches one of the most popular lights on the market (Radion G1-G5) so you can choose to use that or you can hang the unit with the optional wire hanging kit. This style offers a lot of flexibility to the user and even caters to those who are upgrading from a radion to the Sky, as you will likely already have the mount.
