Neptune Systems GRO Macroalgae light is Neptunes take on the Refugium light. Maintaining low nutrient levels is key to a healthy and algae free reef. We have spent years researching and testing ways tor reduce them with several different approaches. The refugium is the most natural way of doing this. By utilising macroalgae such cheato, we provide large amounts of light to the macroalgae which in turn can reduce and keep our nitrate and phosphate levels low.

Macroalgae growth being so dependent on light has lad to years of research and study into lighting for specific tuned spectrums to get the most efficiency from the light to grow the macroalgae. The GRO is a specialized 20W LED light designed to grow many types of coming macroalgae using a specialized light spectrum which maximizes photosynthesis.

The GRO is easy to use and setup and can be done so by anyone as the unit can be run by your Apex system or standalone meaning you don’t have to heavily invest in the Apex ecosystem to get all the benefits of the GRO.

Despite its compact size of 8.7” x 6.1” x 1.4” (22.098 x 15.494 x 3.556 cm), The GRO fits 84 LEDS tuned to the optimum spectrum for powerful energy output to grow the Macroalgae in a large area. The GRO is able to cover refugium area od 18” x 24” (45.72 x 60.96 cm). The units rectangular form factor creates an even light tensity and no hotspots thanks to the ability to distribute the LEDs on such a surface style.

The GRO is also IP64 water-resistant, The huge benefit of this is that you can place the light unit close to the water surface as splashes and salt spray wont damage the unit. This means that you can increase the units efficiency allowing for less PAR reduction due to the distance between the light and the Macroalgae. Not only that but you can reduce the light spill which means you can lower the escaped energy which may fuel nuisance algae.

The GRO can also be mounted in two different ways. Offering a gooseneck mount in 2 different styles. A traditional clamp style mount to attach it to the edge of your sump and a unique pipe-clamp mount which allows you to attach it to existing plumbing above or behind the sump.
