The Red Sea Max Bio Media is a ceramic porous media, specifically designed to promote the growth of bacteria for biological filtration. The 1 litre bag of ceramic media rings have 420m2/l or 1,200 sq ft/gal of surface area for intensive biological filtration.
The structure of the pores within the media enables both aerobic nitrification and anoxic denitrification.
