Phosphorus is an extremely important element in micro fauna and coral nutrition and health. When Phosphorus is in an aquarium in adequate amounts, it promotes biological filtration and improved coral colouration and health.
Within our aquariums bacteria and other microorganisms exist which many corals are found to consume. This bacteria offers a great health benefit to our corals thanks to the natural abundance of it and the amount of nutrition they provide. These organisms only populate correctly and quickly enough when the correct elements are available for them to do so. PO4 plays a vital role in not only development but also these organisms’ ability to uptake other forms of compounds for growth.
In many modern aquariums, PO4 and NO3 are easily bottomed out thanks to our highly efficient filtration systems. This isn’t a bad thing as it means we know our aquariums are stable and healthy parameter-wise. However, the downside is the lack of these compounds completely can lead to many issues. Being able to safely and simple increase concentrations within an aquarium using a liquid source is an excellent way to not only supply and stabilise populations of these organisms, but to also do so without risk of over-pollution of these compounds which in abundance can cause unsightly algae or bad bacteria to appear and grow.
PhosPlus is a safe, natural compound to make PO4 available when required. Simply calculate how much you need and administer the liquid accordingly. It is recommended to only dose when you have an extremely accurate reading of PO4 in your aquarium and to only raise the concentration in an aquarium by 0.01 – 0.02 ppm per day, with an end, maintained, goal of roughly 0.04 ppm.
