Tropic Marin NO2/NO3 test
Tropic Marin NO2/NO3 test was created by Tropic Marin to ensure accurate testing of nitrite and nitrate. These ions are formed from ammonium as part of the nitrification process. Nitrite, which is highly poisonous to freshwater species, is produced in the first stage of the bacterial process. Once operating as it should, the bacteria will convert this into nitrate. Nitrate in too high amounts can cause issues for coral growth and can encourage algae growth.
As a general rule of thumb, nitrite should be less than 0.2 ppm in all aquariums wherever possible. Nitrate should be below 50 ppm on a freshwater system but below 20 ppm in a saltwater system.

Essential piece of kit
Accurately tests nitrate and nitrite concentrations
Measuring nitrate in particular should be done on a regular basis to keep it in check
Measurement range for nitrite: 0 - 2.0 mg/l (ppm)
Measurement range for nitrate: 0.5 - 50 mg/l (ppm)
Accuracy for nitrite: 0.02 mg/l (ppm)
Accuracy for nitrate: 0.5 mg/l (ppm)
